Wow- I am amazed and slightly appalled.  This is particularly strange to me considering that the Marine Corps is the toughest organization of all the military services to get into- and I made it as a U.S. Marine without too much difficulty.

In answer to your question, yes it was documented in my records before I enlisted (that I had KS).  However, I had not begun the hormone replacement therapy (HRT) yet.  My endo counselor at the time said if I had enough heart to try, he didn't see a problem.  So off and away I went to boot camp in San Diego, CA.

As I'm sure you already know, HRT is optional and not totally necessary.  Sure, KS patients cannot get the level of strength that most adolescents 18-22 can achieve, but they can get a sufficient amount to pass the regulation for strength in the Marines (3 pull-ups).  Personally, in boot camp I accelled in areas such as military studies (tests on military history) and physical training, but figuring things out such as rope tying (sp?) for rappelling and weapons training took a little effort.  Fortunately, I had a lot of heart and stuck it out, and low and behold graduated a Marine.

If I were you, I wouldn't even make a big deal out of the fact that your son has KS (for potential employers such as the law enforcement agencies).  The way I look at is this: you can call it a genetic disorder, a disability, or you can call it a gift with a few minor glitches, but when you get right down to it, it's who we are.  As an employer, to make a decision based on who a person is denies that person his/her rights (which is, of course, against the law).  But I'm not trying to give a save the world speech here, so I'll let you go for now.   Please, if you have any other questions, feel free...
